FAQ

Q: Who created the step art form? Where did it originate? When?
A: Stepping, as we know it today, originated in the U.S. by collegiate fraternity and sorority members of the National Pan Hellenic Council. There are many theories regarding how, where, when and fro whom the art form was inspired. The California Step Association does not subscribe to any one theory but instead educates the public about each theory in existence.

Q: Can anyone participate?
A: Yes! Anyone with the willingness, diligence, and dedication to be a stepper can participate. Contact us to find out how you can get involved!

Q: Is stepping difficult to learn?
A: It depends. Some people are able to learn routines with ease while others have a longer and more difficult learning curve. However, with hard work, dedication, and an experienced step master properly teaching the fundamentals, just about anyone can learn.
